About Tap Water Primer
Tap Water Primer is an independent website that explains what’s in your tap water and how to choose home water treatment. Water utilities publish detailed annual reports, but they can be hard to read, and filter marketing can be harder still. We connect the two: what your utility reports, and which certification addresses it.
What we do
- Read each utility’s latest annual water quality report (Consumer Confidence Report) and EPA monitoring data.
- Use NSF and EPA to match each issue to a certification claim.
- Link every fact to its source, show the date we checked it, and label anything we couldn’t verify.
What we don’t do
- We don’t give medical advice. If you’re worried about your health, talk to a health care provider or your local health department.
- We don’t test water or rank utilities by safety.
- We don’t let commercial relationships decide what we say about certifications. See our affiliate disclosure.
